Where I'm At:

My biggest news is that I finished my doctoral degree, put my things in storage, and am now realizing a long-held dream of travelling through India and Southeast Asia.  I'm listening a lot, I'm experiencing a lot, I'm seeing cultures and musics and architecture and people that I've never seen. I'm also writing some music and purchasing some instruments.  This trip is already very inspirational, and I think will affect all the art I make in the future.

Recent Projects:

My most recently completed projects include Awakening, a commission for the Bang On A Can All-Stars (clarinet, cello, electric guitar, bass, percussion, and keyboards); Raccoon Tune, a commission from the Ann Arbor Symphony - the work is an orchestra piece for children which features a narrator and two percussionists wearing raccoon masks, Crystal Walkway, a computer-driven light installation which was put up at the Burning Man festival and other locations (see a short video here); Dub Darvish, an ambient track featuring the santur player Alan Kushan; and the score to the art film Caravan of Light.

Caravan of Light has been commercially released and is currently available here.  Dub Darvish is one of the tracks included on the accompanying CD.

Upcoming projects include a long-overdue commission for the early vocal-music group Lionheart, as well as interesting tentative commissions: for two violins and organ, solo organ, piano and electronics, and another film score.
